In order:
Layer 4 was deposited
Layer 5 was deposited
Intrusion 2 formed
Layer 1 was deposited
Intrusion 3 formed
Earth cracked at fault B
I order the layers the way I did because of Steno's Principals. In one of his principals. The Principal of Superposition, it says that layers of rock on the top are the youngest and layers of rock on the bottom are the oldest. Because I knew of this principal, I knew that layer 4 was deposited first because it was on the bottom. Then I knew that Layer 5 was deposited second because it was the "second layer" after layer 4. Then another principal came into action. This principal was the Principal of Cross Cutting Relationships. Because of the principal, I knew that intrusion 2 was form. After intrusion 2 was formed came the Principal of Superposition again. So the next layer that was deposited was layer 1. After all of this the Principal of Cross Cutting Relationships came into effect again for intrusion 3. Intrusion 3 came last because it cuts across all other layers that we formed and it was the last "layer" per say to be formed. As for the earth cracked at fault B, I put it last because I did not know what order that went in. I was unclear as to the order of the crack
Nice job! I think you're correct, except I think B happened before 1, 3, and 6 because otherwise the crack would extend upward through them.
ReplyDeleteOh I was unclear about that but thank you
